Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Urine with Hematuria BZ403 is a sterile, ready-to-use simulated urine at pH 6.0 designed to mimic the appearance and composition of urine that contains blood. Hematuria – the presence of red blood cells in urine – can indicate conditions such as urinary tract infection, kidney stones, kidney disease or bladder cancer. BZ403 reproduces it by adding synthetic blood or a red dye to a standard artificial urine, so that no patient specimen is needed.
It is used in medical training to practise urinalysis and to recognise and interpret blood in a urine sample; in laboratories to validate and calibrate urine-testing equipment and as a control sample in studies of urinalysis methods; and by diagnostic companies for the testing of biosensor devices and as a matrix for quality-control preparations. The pH can be set in the range 6.0 to 6.5 or customized further.
It is supplied stabilized, with 0.05% preservative, and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request.
