Product Overview
Biochemazone Simulated Human Urine with Urobilin BZ384 is a sterile, ready-to-use artificial human urine at pH 6.5 that contains urobilin, the pigment that gives real urine its yellow colour. The solution is therefore slightly yellow without any added dye, odourless to slightly odorous, and closely resembles human urine; the pH can be set in the range 6.0 to 6.5 or customized further.
BZ384 is used by diagnostic companies for the testing of biosensor devices, by the biomedical and textile testing industries, and by laboratories as a matrix for quality-control preparations – in particular where the colour of urine matters, as in optical sensors, colour-reading test strips, and staining tests on textiles and absorbent products. Makers of catheters, diapers, sanitary pads and diagnostic tests use it for repeatable results anywhere and at any time.
It is supplied stabilized, with 0.05% preservative, and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The formulation, minerals, inorganic content, preservatives, pH and pack size can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only. For urine without urobilin see Artificial Human Urine BZ340; for urines graded by colour see Artificial Human Urine Based on Hydration Color Chart BZ510.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does urobilin add?
Urobilin is the pigment responsible for the yellow colour of urine. With it, the artificial urine has the colour of real urine from the natural pigment and not from a dye, which matters for optical sensors, colour-read test strips and staining tests.
How long does the solution keep?
Unopened, the stabilized solution has a 1-year shelf life at 2–30 °C. A preservative-free version with a 6-month shelf life and a dried Powder Version Kit with a 2-year shelf life are available on request.
