Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Urine for Soil Test BZ341 is a sterile, ready-to-use synthetic urine at pH 6.2 for soil test studies. It has the composition of our Artificial Human Urine and closely resembles human urine: it is colourless to slightly yellow – a colour dye gives it the look of real urine – and odourless to slightly odorous, and the pH can be set in the range 6.0 to 6.5 or customized further.
BZ341 is used in soil test studies as a matrix for quality-control preparations, wherever a study needs urine of known and constant composition in place of collected urine, which differs from donor to donor and from day to day. It is formulated according to official testing methods and to published research data on the use of artificial urine for soil tests, so that results can be repeated anywhere and at any time.
It is supplied stabilized, with 0.05% preservative, and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The formulation, minerals, organic content, preservatives, pH and pack size can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only. For the general synthetic human urine see Artificial Human Urine BZ340; for an artificial cattle urine for soil nitrogen trials see Artificial Cattle Urine BZ685.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why use artificial urine in a soil test?
Collected urine varies in its salts, urea and pH from one sample to the next. An artificial urine is the same in every bottle, so the effect measured in the soil can be attributed to the treatment and repeated in another laboratory or season.
How long does the solution keep?
Unopened, the stabilized solution has a 1-year shelf life at 2–30 °C. A preservative-free version with a 6-month shelf life and a dried Powder Version Kit with a 2-year shelf life are available on request.
