Biochemazone Simulated Uterine Fluid (SUF) BZ318, also called artificial or synthetic uterine fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use uterine fluid simulant at pH 7.2. The pH of natural uterine fluid ranges from about 6.8 to 7.4, and pH 7.2 is a good approximation of its average value.
Uterine fluid is the liquid medium that connects the floating embryo and the uterus, and it can carry information between the two. Its slightly acidic to neutral pH supports sperm survival and fertilization, and the health and function of the uterine lining. BZ318 is used in the laboratory to study reproductive health, including drug delivery systems and the behaviour of cells in the uterine environment, and to evaluate how uterine fluid influences the performance of vaginally applied topical therapeutic, contraceptive and prophylactic formulations.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
