Biochemazone Simulated Cervical Mucus Fluid (SCMF) BZ334, also called synthetic or artificial cervical mucus, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that closely resembles human cervical mucus, at pH 7.0. Its physicochemical properties – pH, buffer capacity, surface tension and viscosity – were assessed during development and optimized to mimic the natural fluid.
Cervical mucus is the fluid secreted by the cervix; its amount and consistency change through the menstrual cycle. BZ334 is used in in vitro research as a consistent stand-in for it, in place of human samples.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The formulation, enzymes and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
