Product Overview
Biochemazone Simulated Urine BZ344 is a sterile, ready-to-use artificial urine at pH 6.5 for biochemistry and physiological tests. It is offered as a control and in six versions with one added analyte each – ketone, phosphates, vitamin C, albumin, glucose or creatinine – so that a laboratory or a class can compare a normal urine with urines that give a positive result for a particular test.
The solution has the composition of our Artificial Human Urine and closely resembles human urine: colourless to slightly yellow with a colour dye, odourless to slightly odorous. It is used in physiological studies and teaching as a matrix for quality-control preparations, for checking urine test strips and assays against a known sample, and by makers of synthetic urine kits. Because every bottle is the same, a result can be repeated anywhere and at any time.
It is supplied stabilized, with 0.05% preservative, and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH is maintained at 6.5 and can be customized at no additional cost. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the versions?
The control is the simulated urine itself. Each of the other six versions is the same urine with one analyte added – ketone, phosphates, vitamin C, albumin, glucose or creatinine – so that it gives a positive result in the corresponding test.
Can the versions be used with urine test strips?
Yes. The control and analyte versions are used to check test strips and assays against a known sample and to show a normal and a positive result side by side.
How long does the solution keep?
Unopened, the stabilized solution has a 1-year shelf life at 2–30 °C. A preservative-free version with a 6-month shelf life and a dried Powder Version Kit with a 2-year shelf life are available on request.
