Biochemazone Simulated Intravascular Fluid BZ458 is a ready-to-use synthetic formulation at pH 7.4 designed to replicate the properties of natural blood – the fluid inside the blood vessels. It contains a balanced mixture of water, electrolytes, proteins and other components, and its viscosity and density are controlled to match those of blood, so that it behaves like blood in studies of blood flow, shear stress and cardiovascular function.
Research laboratories use it to study the behaviour of blood, its interaction with vascular tissue, blood flow dynamics and cardiovascular diagnostics, and in diagnostic assays that explore blood-related biomarkers. It is also used for the testing and calibration of devices that work with blood or vascular fluids – diagnostic tools for cardiovascular health and devices that analyse blood flow and pressure – and for training in cardiology, hematology and vascular research without biological samples. The fluid is clear to light amber, like blood plasma.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains protein, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
