Product Overview

Biochemazone Artificial Pus Fluid BZ357, also called simulated pus fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the composition and pH of human pus, at pH 6.7. It is yellowish, like natural pus.

Pus is an exudate, typically white-yellow, yellow or yellow-brown, that forms at the site of inflammation during a bacterial or fungal infection. A collection of pus in an enclosed tissue space is known as an abscess, and a visible collection within or beneath the epidermis is known as a pustule, pimple or spot. BZ357 gives a consistent, non-human stand-in for pus for in vitro laboratory research, in place of clinical samples.

It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment. For the fluid of an enclosed abscess see Artificial Abscess Fluid (BZ383); for viscous purulent drainage see Artificial Purulent Discharge Fluid (BZ351).
