Biochemazone Artificial Abscess Fluid BZ383, also called simulated abscess fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the composition and pH of human abscess fluid, at pH 6.5. It is an opaque, reddish-pink fluid.
Abscess fluid is an exudate, typically white-yellow, yellow or yellow-red brown, that forms at the site of inflammation during a bacterial or fungal infection. An accumulation of pus in an enclosed tissue space is known as an abscess, whereas a visible collection within or beneath the epidermis is known as a pustule, pimple or spot. BZ383 gives a consistent, non-human stand-in for this fluid for in vitro laboratory research, in place of clinical samples.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
