Biochemazone Artificial Wound Fluid Exudate BZ292, also called simulated wound fluid exudate, is a sterile, ready-to-use synthetic fluid that replicates the physical and chemical characteristics of human wound exudate, at pH 7.4. It is prepared in accordance with the EN 13726 standard and BS EN 13726:2023 and simulates the viscosity, pH, ionic composition, protein content and moisture behaviour of natural wound exudate.
Exudate, often called wound drainage, is the liquid the body produces in response to tissue damage. It bathes the wound, keeps it moist, supplies nutrients and gives the best conditions for new tissue to migrate and heal the wound. BZ292 is widely used to evaluate wound dressings, absorbent materials, biomedical devices and wound care products under controlled, reproducible conditions: absorption studies, fluid handling assessments, antimicrobial testing and dressing retention analysis.
Unopened, it has a 1-year shelf life at 2–30 °C and is shipped at room temperature; a preservative-free version and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains protein, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
