Product Overview
Biochemazone Simulated Wound Fluid with Serum BZ622 is a protein-rich challenge fluid for testing antimicrobial wound dressings and wound-care products. Real wound exudate is full of serum proteins, which bind and neutralise many antimicrobials such as silver, iodine and PHMB; testing only in saline or broth can therefore overstate how well a dressing works.
The fluid combines 50% serum (of bovine origin) with 50% peptone water (0.1% peptone in 0.85% sodium chloride), the composition widely used as “simulated wound fluid” in dressing antimicrobial studies. It has a pH of about 7.4 (range 7.2–7.6), the pH of fresh wound exudate, and supports bacterial growth so that dressing performance is tested under a realistic organic load.
BZ622 complements our electrolyte-based Simulated Wound Fluid Solution A (EN 13726) and Artificial Wound Fluid Exudate. Each batch is prepared aseptically under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system and is supplied sterile.
