Product Overview
Biochemazone 1 M Tris-HCl, pH 8.0 BZ214 is a sterile, ready-made stock of the most widely used biological buffer. It is the starting point for TE, lysis, extraction, PCR, enzyme and protein buffers, and saves the time of weighing Tris and titrating with hydrochloric acid.
Tris (tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, MW 121.14) has a pKa of about 8.1 at 25 °C and buffers well between pH 7.0 and 9.0. The solution is adjusted to pH 8.0 at 25 °C with hydrochloric acid and sterilised by autoclaving. Tris pH falls by about 0.03 units for every 1 °C rise in temperature, so a buffer set at 25 °C reads higher in the cold room.
