Frequently asked questions
What is the pH of BZ205 PBS?
BZ205 is adjusted to pH 7.2–7.4 at 25 °C, the standard physiological pH used for cell culture, immunoassays and most biological work.
Does this PBS contain calcium or magnesium?
No. BZ205 is calcium- and magnesium-free, the preferred format for washing cells and rinsing cultures before trypsinisation. A version with calcium and magnesium can be made on request.
Is BZ205 sterile and ready to use?
Yes. It is a sterile 1X working solution and can be used directly from the bottle. Use aseptic technique after opening to keep it sterile.
How should PBS be stored and how long does it last?
Store at 2–30 °C. Unopened bottles have a shelf life of 1 year, and the product ships at room temperature. If crystals appear after cold storage, warm the bottle to 37 °C and mix until they dissolve.
What is the difference between PBS and DPBS?
Both are isotonic phosphate-buffered salines. Dulbecco’s PBS uses a slightly different phosphate balance and is widely used in cell culture. For most washing and dilution steps they are interchangeable. See DPBS BZ221.
