Product Overview

Biochemazone PBS Powder BZ207 is a pre-blended dry powder that makes standard 1X Phosphate Buffered Saline (0.01 M phosphate, 137 mM NaCl, 2.7 mM KCl, pH 7.2–7.4) when dissolved in water. It is the most economical way to make large volumes of PBS, ships light, and keeps for 2 years as a dry powder.

Dissolve about 9.9 g per litre of high-purity water and mix until clear; 100 g makes roughly 10 L of 1X PBS. Check the pH and adjust to 7.2–7.4 if needed, then sterilise by autoclaving (121 °C, 20 minutes) or 0.22 µm filtration for cell culture use. The blend contains no calcium or magnesium.

Manufactured under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.

Frequently asked questions

How much PBS powder do I need per litre?

Use about 9.9 g per litre of 1X PBS. Dissolve it in about 800 mL of high-purity water, check the pH, then make up to 1 L. 100 g makes roughly 10 L.

Do I need to adjust the pH?

The blend gives pH 7.2–7.4 when dissolved in high-purity water. Check with a pH meter and adjust with dilute HCl or NaOH if your protocol needs a precise value.

How do I sterilise PBS made from the powder?

Autoclave at 121 °C for 20 minutes or filter through a 0.22 µm membrane before using the solution in cell culture.

How long does PBS powder last?

Unopened, sealed containers have a 2-year shelf life at 2–30 °C. Keep the container tightly closed and dry because the powder can absorb moisture.

Can I make 10X PBS from this powder?

Yes. Dissolve about 99 g per litre to make a 10X stock. Concentrated PBS may crystallise when cold; warm to 37 °C to redissolve.
