Product Overview

Biochemazone Dulbecco’s Phosphate Buffered Saline (DPBS) BZ221 is a ready-to-use, sterile, isotonic salt solution for handling mammalian cells. It is the standard buffer for washing cells during passaging, rinsing monolayers before trypsinisation, diluting cells and carrying tissue samples.

This 1X formulation contains sodium chloride, potassium chloride and sodium and potassium phosphates at pH 7.4, and is free of calcium and magnesium (also known as D-PBS, CMF-DPBS or DPBS w/o Ca/Mg). Without these ions, cells detach and disperse more easily and do not clump. The solution is autoclaved and used straight from the bottle.

Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.

What is the difference between DPBS and PBS?

Both are isotonic phosphate-buffered salines at about pH 7.4. DPBS follows Dulbecco’s formulation, with slightly less phosphate than standard PBS, and is the version most cell culture protocols specify. For most washing steps they are interchangeable.
