Biochemazone Artificial Lochia Fluid BZ382, also called simulated lochia fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use lochia simulant at pH 7.2, slightly viscous with a gel-like look.
Lochia is the vaginal discharge after childbirth. It contains a mix of blood, mucus and uterine tissue and is a normal part of healing after birth. It is dark or bright red and heavy for the first three or four days, more watery and pinkish-brown after about a week, and creamy, yellowish-white after about 10 to 14 days. BZ382 is used to study the in vitro release of medications given by the vaginal route and to evaluate how the fluid influences vaginally applied topical therapeutic, contraceptive and prophylactic formulations; among its properties, pH and osmolarity play the dominant role in the physicochemical processes that govern drug release and distribution.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
