Biochemazone Simulated Proteinuria Urine BZ399 is a sterile, ready-to-use artificial urine at pH 6.0 that contains protein, to simulate the urine of proteinuria – the condition in which protein is passed in the urine. Apart from the protein it closely resembles human urine: colourless to slightly yellow with a colour dye, odourless to slightly odorous, with a pH that can be set in the range 6.0 to 6.5 or customized further.
BZ399 is used by diagnostic companies for the testing of biosensor devices and urine protein tests, in biomedical research, and by laboratories as a matrix for quality-control preparations and as a positive sample beside a normal artificial urine. Makers of test strips, analysers, catheters and absorbent products use it to check how a product behaves with a protein-containing urine, with the same result anywhere and at any time.
It is supplied stabilized, with 0.05% preservative, and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The formulation, minerals, organic content, preservatives, pH and pack size can be customized. Because it contains protein, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time.
