Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Urine for Corrosion Testing of Urological Implants BZ101 is a sterile, ready-to-use artificial urine at pH 6.0 designed for testing the metallic biomaterials used to make urological implants and catheters. The formulation simulates the mineral composition and pH of natural urine, so that a metal or a coating is exposed to the ionic environment it meets in the urinary tract.
BZ101 is used for corrosion testing of urological implants, for the study and testing of catheters and bio-metallic parts, and for research on how materials and surfaces behave in urine. Because every batch has the same composition, results can be compared between test runs and between laboratories, which is not possible with collected urine.
BZ101 is the not-stabilized, preservative-free version, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; choose it when a preservative could interfere with the test. The stabilized version, with a 1-year shelf life, is Simulated Urine for Corrosion Testing of Urological Implants, Stabilized (BZ188). The pH and contents can be customized. This solution is intended for product testing and research, not for in vivo or medical use. For a urine medium that supports the growth of pathogens see Artificial Urine Medium for Growing Urological Pathogens (BZ103).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between BZ101 and BZ188?
Both are artificial urine at pH 6.0 for corrosion testing of urological implants. BZ101 contains no preservative and has a 6-month shelf life unopened; BZ188 contains a non-toxic stabilizer against microbial and fungal growth and has a 1-year shelf life.
How long does the solution keep?
Unopened, the not-stabilized solution has a 6-month shelf life at 2–30 °C. For a 1-year shelf life order the stabilized version, BZ188.
