Biochemazone Substitute Ocean Water ASTM D1141-98 (Without Preservative) BZ312, also called artificial ocean water, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution made to ASTM D1141-98 that simulates the composition and pH of real ocean water, at pH 8.2. It can be used directly; the pH can be customized to the project requirement.
BZ312 is used for corrosion and materials testing where preservatives must be avoided: this version contains no preservative. It gives laboratories the same substitute ocean water from batch to batch.
Unopened, it has a 6-month shelf life at 2–30 °C and is shipped at room temperature. The version with preservative is Substitute Ocean Water ASTM D1141-98, With Preservative (BZ313) (1-year shelf life); the dry salt is Sea Salt ASTM D1141-98 (BZ537). The pH and the contents can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
