Biochemazone Synthetic Seawater ASTM D1141-98 BZ387, also called simulated sea water, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the composition and pH of real ocean water (seawater). It can be used directly and is supplied at pH 8.1; the pH can be customized to the project requirement.
It is prepared to ASTM D1141-98 (original standard ASTM D1141-52). BZ387 is used for corrosion and materials testing, and gives laboratories the same seawater from batch to batch.
Unopened, it has a 1-year shelf life at 2–30 °C and is shipped at room temperature; a preservative-free version and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
