Biochemazone Substitute Ocean Water ASTM D1141-98 (With Preservative) BZ313, also called artificial ocean water, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution made to ASTM D1141-98 that simulates the composition and pH of real ocean water, at pH 8.2. It can be used directly; the pH can be customized to the project requirement.
BZ313 is used for corrosion and materials testing. This version contains a preservative that stops microbial growth in the solution. It gives laboratories the same substitute ocean water from batch to batch.
Unopened, it has a 1-year shelf life at 2–30 °C and is shipped at room temperature. The version without preservative is Substitute Ocean Water ASTM D1141-98, Without Preservative (BZ312) (6-month shelf life); the dry salt is Sea Salt ASTM D1141-98 (BZ537). The pH and the contents can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
