Biochemazone Fast State Artificial Colonic Fluid (FaSAC) BZ381, also called fasted state artificial colonic fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the components of human colonic fluid in the fasted state, at pH 7.6. It is mainly composed of physiological components (bile salt and lipids), Tris, maleic acid and minerals such as sodium, chloride and phosphate, and is sterilized by 0.2 µm filtration.
FaSAC mimics the pH, ionic strength and osmolarity of the colon when the digestive system is fasting. It is used to study drug interactions and the modified release of drug products intended for colonic delivery, and for controlled-release oral formulations, colonic absorption and permeability studies, microbiome and fermentation models and the in vitro simulation of gastrointestinal transit.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
