Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Perspiration Dry Kit BZ580 contains the pre-weighed reagents for the two perspiration solutions of ISO 105-E04 (Textiles – Tests for colour fastness – Colour fastness to perspiration). Each packet makes 1 litre of freshly prepared solution, which is how the standard expects the solutions to be used.
The alkaline solution (pH 8.0) contains L-histidine monohydrochloride monohydrate, sodium chloride and disodium hydrogen phosphate; the acidic solution (pH 5.5) contains L-histidine monohydrochloride monohydrate, sodium chloride and sodium dihydrogen phosphate. The user dissolves the packet in grade 3 water to give the final pH: acidic 5.5 ± 0.2; alkaline 8.0 ± 0.2. If there is a minor variation in pH after reconstitution, reset it as required using 0.1 M HCl or 0.1 M NaOH.
A dry kit costs far less to ship than bottled solution, stores for 2 years unopened at 2–30 °C and removes weighing errors from routine testing. It suits textile, leather, footwear and dye laboratories that run perspiration tests every week. The same solutions are also used in ISO 105-B07 and JIS L 0848.
