Biochemazone Artificial Glymphatic Fluid BZ442, also called simulated glymphatic fluid, is a ready-to-use synthetic solution designed to replicate the properties of natural glymphatic fluid, at pH 7.4. The glymphatic system is the waste-clearance system of the brain. It contains water, electrolytes, proteins and other relevant compounds, which mimic the physical and chemical characteristics of the natural fluid. The pH of natural glymphatic fluid is about 7.3 to 7.4; the standard formulation is set at 7.4. Its viscosity and density are matched to the natural fluid, and it stays stable through the test.
Research laboratories use it to study the interaction between glymphatic fluid and the surrounding brain environment, including its role in waste clearance, brain health and drug delivery systems, and in controlled experiments that measure biomarkers within the glymphatic system. It is also used to test and calibrate medical devices that interact with glymphatic fluid, such as brain catheters, microdialysis systems and drug delivery platforms aimed at the central nervous system, in research on neurodegenerative diseases and drug delivery to the brain, and in training, without the need for human glymphatic fluid.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains protein, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized.
