Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Gastric Mucus BZ608 is a mucin-based gel that models the mucus layer lining the stomach. This layer protects the stomach wall from acid and pepsin, and it is the first barrier that oral drugs, nanoparticles and Helicobacter pylori meet. Our range already includes oesophageal, small-intestinal and colonic mucus; this product completes the set.
In the stomach the mucus layer carries a pH gradient, from acidic at the lumen to near-neutral at the cell surface. Two versions reflect the two sides of that gradient: luminal side at pH 2.0 and epithelial side at pH 6.8. Both contain gastric mucin with added protein and lipid to give a viscoelastic gel similar to native gastric mucus.
Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system. The mucin is of porcine origin.
