Biochemazone LH-Positive and FSH-Positive Artificial Urine BZ597 is a synthetic urine containing a defined level of luteinising hormone (LH) or follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). It is made for developing and checking lateral-flow tests that read these hormones in urine: LH tests predict ovulation, and FSH tests are used in menopause and fertility screening.
Both positives are prepared at about 50 mIU/mL, around twice the common 25 mIU/mL cut-off of rapid tests, so they should give a clear positive line. A matching hormone-free negative is offered in the same urine matrix. The base contains urea, creatinine and physiological salts at a pH of about 6.0 (range 5.5–7.0), within the normal range of human urine. The measured hormone level is stated on each certificate of analysis.
