Biochemazone Simulated Body Fluid 10x (SBF) BZ472 is a ten-times concentrated simulated body fluid, at pH 7.4, that mimics the ionic composition of human blood plasma once diluted: it replicates the concentrations of calcium, phosphate, sodium and the other essential ions. The 10x concentrate is diluted as required – typically to 1x – which gives flexibility and saves preparation time.
SBF is used to evaluate the bioactivity and biocompatibility of biomaterials: it promotes the formation of hydroxyapatite, the bone-like apatite layer that is central to bone regeneration studies. BZ472 is used for bioactivity and biocompatibility testing of implants and coatings, hydroxyapatite formation analysis, surface modification studies, bone regeneration and bone tissue engineering research, implant development, and corrosion testing of metallic implants in a simulated body environment.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the ionic composition can be customized. Prepare fresh dilutions as needed. This reagent is for scientific research only.
