Product Overview
Biochemazone Concentrated Simulated Body Fluid BZ632 contains the same ions as Kokubo’s SBF at 1.5 times or 5 times the normal concentration. Concentrated SBF deposits bone-like calcium phosphate (apatite) far faster than 1x SBF, so it is used to coat implants, scaffolds and particles in hours or days rather than weeks.
1.5x SBF is buffered with Tris to pH 7.40 at 36.5 °C, like standard SBF, and is widely used for biomimetic coating of titanium and polymers. 5x SBF is supersaturated enough to precipitate quickly, so it is prepared at a lower pH of about 6.0 (range 5.8–6.4) and supplied without carbonate; the coating forms as the pH rises during use. Both are sterile-filtered.
Concentrated SBF is metastable; use it soon after delivery and discard it if a precipitate appears in the bottle. It complements our 1x and 10x SBF and the c-, r-, n- and m-SBF types. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
