Biochemazone Simulated Blood Matrix BZ281, also called artificial or synthetic blood matrix, is a sterile, ready-to-use blood-matrix simulant at pH 7.4. Blood is a connective tissue with a fluid matrix – the plasma, which is mostly water with proteins, salts, lipids and glucose and carries the blood cells. BZ281 simulates the composition and pH of this matrix and is red in colour.
It is used in in vitro testing and method development where a consistent, non-human blood matrix is needed, without the collection, screening and biosafety handling of donor blood.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
