Biochemazone Simulated Blood as per ASTM F3208-20 BZ410 is a sterile, ready-to-use synthetic blood at pH 7.4, formulated according to the official test method and to published research on its use. ASTM F3208 is the ASTM guide on test soils for validating the cleaning of reusable medical devices. The formulation mimics the physical and chemical properties of human blood – viscosity, density, colour and a pH in the range of blood, about 7.35 to 7.45 – and stays stable over the course of a test.
It is used by diagnostic companies for the testing of biosensor devices, by biomedical and textile-testing laboratories, and as a matrix for quality-control preparations. It is also used for the testing of medical devices that come into contact with blood, in research and development of medical technologies and procedures, and in training and education where a realistic blood is needed without human blood. The fluid is dark red.
Unopened, it has a 1-year shelf life at 2–30 °C and is shipped at room temperature; a preservative-free version and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
