Biochemazone Artificial Endosomal Body Fluid BZ260, also called artificial endosomal fluid or simulated endosomal fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the composition and pH of the endosomal compartment of the cell. It is supplied at pH 5.8, the slightly acidic pH of the endosome, and the pH can be customized to the project requirement.
Endosomes are membrane-bound vesicles found in the cytoplasm of virtually every animal cell. They form by endocytosis: the cell’s plasma membrane folds inward around macromolecules or other matter in the extracellular fluid, the membrane pinches off, and the enclosed material is released into the cell in a sac-like vesicle. BZ260 simulates the fluid inside these vesicles, so that the behaviour of materials after uptake into the endosome – dissolution and drug release, for example – can be studied in vitro at endosomal pH.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment. Why is the pH 5.8?
The endosome is slightly acidic. BZ260 is set at pH 5.8 as standard, and other pH values can be supplied on request.
How long does the solution keep?
