Product Overview
Biochemazone CGS Buffer, pH 6.5 BZ233 is a sterile citrate-glucose-saline buffer used to wash platelets and other blood cells without activating them. It combines isotonic sodium chloride, sodium citrate and glucose at a mildly acidic pH 6.5.
Citrate binds calcium and the slightly acidic pH keeps platelets in a resting state, while glucose supports their metabolism. CGS is therefore a standard washing buffer when preparing washed platelets from platelet-rich plasma for aggregation, secretion, adhesion and signalling studies (see, for example, PMID 26808867). After washing, platelets are usually resuspended in a HEPES-buffered Tyrode’s buffer. The solution is sterile-filtered through a 0.2 µm membrane.
Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
