Frequently asked questions
How do I use PBST for washing?
For Western blots, wash membranes three times for 5–10 minutes in 1X PBST with gentle shaking after each antibody step. For ELISA, fill and empty each well 3–5 times between steps.
What is the difference between PBST and TBST?
Both are saline wash buffers with Tween 20. PBST is phosphate-buffered and widely used for ELISA; TBST (BZ226) is Tris-buffered and preferred for phospho-specific antibodies and alkaline phosphatase detection.
Can I make blocking buffer with BZ218?
Yes. Add 3–5% BSA or 5% non-fat dry milk to 1X PBST to make blocking buffer or antibody diluent.
Is a higher Tween 20 concentration available?
Yes. PBST with 0.1% or 0.2% Tween 20 can be made on request.
How should PBST be stored?
Store at 2–30 °C, tightly closed. Unopened bottles have a 1-year shelf life and ship at room temperature.
