Product Overview

Biochemazone Simulated Synovial Fluid BZ183, also called artificial or synthetic synovial fluid, is a sterile solution that simulates the components and pH of synovial fluid, at pH 7.4. It is sterilized by 0.2 µm filtration and can be used directly; the pH can be customized on request.

BZ183 is used for in vitro drug and prodrug release testing of depot injectables intended for joint injection, and for in vitro sustained drug release studies. It has also been used to evaluate the in vitro bioactive behaviour – the in vitro bone-bonding ability – of tissue-engineered osteochondral (bone–cartilage) composites for lesions of the articular cartilage.

It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment. For the hyaluronic acid version see Artificial Hyaluronic Acid Synovial Fluid (BZ435); for arthritic joints see Synthetic Arthritis Synovial Fluid BZ331.
