Biochemazone Artificial Perspiration, ISO 11641 Sweat – Custom pH, Not Stabilized BZ145 is a ready-to-use, sterile alkaline artificial perspiration at pH 8.0 for ISO 11641, the test for the colour fastness of leather to perspiration. The method applies to all kinds of leather at all stages of processing, and is used in particular for leather that is worn against the skin – gloving, clothing and lining leathers, shoe uppers and linings, and upholstery. The test solution is a sodium chloride / tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane / urea / nitrilotriacetic acid solution adjusted to pH 8.0 with hydrochloric acid; the alkaline pH represents perspiration that has aged on the skin, which is the more severe condition for leather dyes and finishes.
The Custom pH version is supplied at the standard pH 8.0 or, on request and at no extra cost, at any pH from 2 to 9 – for acidic perspiration tests on the same base and for buyer specifications that set their own pH. State the pH in the order notes. It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the leather test run at pH 8.0?
Perspiration becomes alkaline as it ages on the skin, and alkaline sweat is the more severe condition for many leather dyes and finishes. ISO 11641 therefore uses an alkaline artificial perspiration.
How does BZ145 differ from BZ146?
BZ145 is preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened. BZ146 is the same solution with a preservative / stabilizer system and a 1-year shelf life unopened.
