Product Overview
Biochemazone Tripartite Soil Load BZ584 is the three-part organic soil used in ASTM E2197, the quantitative disk carrier test for bactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal, mycobactericidal and sporicidal activity of liquid chemicals. The soil represents the mix of large proteins, small peptides and mucus that a disinfectant meets on real surfaces.
The kit contains three sterile stock solutions in phosphate-buffered saline: bovine serum albumin (50 mg/mL), yeast extract (50 mg/mL) and bovine mucin (4 mg/mL). In the method, 25 µL BSA, 35 µL yeast extract and 100 µL mucin are combined with 340 µL of the test organism suspension. The solutions have a pH of about 7.2 (range 7.0–7.4).
Using ready-made, matched stocks keeps the soil load identical from run to run and saves weighing and sterilising three separate components. The soil load is also used in other carrier methods that ask for a three-part soil, including testing for EPA and Health Canada disinfectant submissions. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
