Biochemazone Synthetic Blood ASTM F1670/F1670M BZ568 is a red, non-biological test fluid prepared for ASTM F1670/F1670M, the standard test method for resistance of materials used in protective clothing to penetration by synthetic blood. In the method, a specimen is held against the fluid in a penetration cell under a set time and pressure sequence and inspected for visible strike-through.
Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system and checked for surface tension (0.042 ± 0.002 N/m) and pH (7.3; typical range 7.2–7.4), so that the fluid wets materials the way blood and body fluids do.
BZ568 is used to screen surgical gown, drape, coverall and glove materials and their seams, including the pass/fail screening that precedes viral-penetration testing to ASTM F1671. It contains no human or animal blood.
