Product Overview
Biochemazone Probiotic Acid and Bile Tolerance Test Fluids BZ604 are ready-made challenge fluids for showing whether probiotic strains and finished products survive passage through the stomach and small intestine. Acid and bile tolerance are among the first screening tests for a probiotic candidate and are routinely used to compare strains, encapsulation and capsule designs.
Three fluids are offered. The acid challenges are simulated gastric fluids with pepsin at pH 2.0 (a harsh fasting stomach) and pH 3.0 (a milder or fed stomach). The bile challenge contains 0.3% oxgall (dried bovine bile) at pH 7.0, the bile level most often used in the literature. They can be used alone or in sequence: acid first, then bile.
All fluids are sterile and ready to use, and are prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system. Oxgall is of animal origin.
Key Features & Benefits
✅ Two Acid Levels – pH 2.0 and pH 3.0, with pepsin
✅ Bile Challenge – 0.3% oxgall at pH 7.0
✅ Sequential Testing – Acid then bile, as in transit through the gut
✅ Sterile – No contaminating organisms in viability counts
✅ Kit Option – All three fluids together
✅ Ready-to-Use – No weighing of pepsin or bile
✅ ISO 3696 Grade Water – Prepared using high-purity laboratory water
✅ Made in Canada – Manufactured under ISO 9001 / GMP quality systems
