Product Overview
Biochemazone Krebs-Henseleit Buffer BZ662 is the classic bicarbonate-buffered physiological salt solution used to keep isolated tissues alive and working. It is the standard perfusion fluid for the Langendorff isolated heart and the usual bath solution for aortic rings, small arteries, trachea, gut strips and other organ-bath preparations.
The solution contains sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium chlorides and sulfate, potassium phosphate, sodium bicarbonate and glucose. When gassed with 95% oxygen / 5% carbon dioxide at 37 °C it has a pH of 7.4 (range 7.35–7.45). Without gassing the pH rises as carbon dioxide is lost, so gas the solution for at least 15–20 minutes before use. A calcium-free version is offered for tissue dissection and calcium-response curves, and a bicarbonate-free version for adding fresh bicarbonate on the day.
Calcium content varies between laboratories (commonly 1.25–2.5 mM); tell us your recipe and we will match it. The solution is sterile-filtered. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
