Available Pack Sizes: Salt kits that make 1 L, 5 L or 10 L of medium
Custom Bulk Quantities Available
Product Overview
Biochemazone Gas-Test Buffer Medium Salt Kit BZ681 supplies the buffer and mineral components of the medium used in the Hohenheim gas test, the in-vitro gas production method of Menke et al. (1979) and Menke and Steingass (1988). Feed samples are incubated with rumen fluid and this buffered medium in glass syringes, and the gas produced is used to estimate digestibility and energy value.
The kit contains pre-weighed bicarbonate buffer salts, macro-mineral and micro-mineral salts and resazurin redox indicator, with instructions for making up the stock solutions. The reducing solution and the rumen fluid are not included and are prepared on site. After gassing with CO₂ at 39 °C, the complete medium has a pH of about 6.8–7.0. The kit contains no animal-derived ingredients.
Check the proportions and preparation in the edition of the method you follow. Supplied dry, the kits ship cheaply and keep for two years. Made under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
