Product Overview
Biochemazone Forensic Body-Fluid Training Set BZ665 gives forensic science students safe stains to practise the presumptive tests used to screen evidence for body fluids. Students can prepare stains on fabric and other surfaces, search for them and test them, without handling human material.
The set contains simulated blood, semen, saliva and urine. Each contains a component chosen to react in a common presumptive test: peroxidase-type activity in the blood (for phenolphthalein-type and similar colour tests), acid phosphatase in the semen, amylase in the saliva, and urea and creatinine in the urine. Some reactive components may be animal- or plant-derived; the source is stated on the certificate. The fluids have a pH close to the real fluids: blood about 7.4, semen about 7.7, saliva about 6.8 and urine about 6.0.
Human-specific confirmatory tests, such as immunochromatographic tests for human haemoglobin, semen or saliva proteins, are designed to give negative results with these simulants, which can itself be a useful teaching point. We confirm which presumptive tests each fluid reacts with before supply. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
