Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Sweat BZ496 is a ready-to-use, sterile synthetic solution formulated to simulate human perspiration, for material testing, biomedical research and other scientific work. It replicates the salt concentrations, pH and organic matter of real sweat: the electrolytes sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride and lactate; the organic molecules urea, lactic acid and ammonia; and an acetate- or citrate-based buffer that holds the target pH between 4.5 and 6.5.
BZ496 is used to assess the corrosion resistance and degradation of metals, coatings, plastics and composites, to simulate sweat exposure in cosmetic and skincare formulation studies, to evaluate the durability and comfort of fabrics and the performance of wearable sensors, and to test skin-contact electronics. Amino acids can be added and the pH changed to match your protocol.
BZ496 contains a preservative as standard, so it is supplied stabilized, with a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version is available on request. Prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system. Does BZ496 contain a preservative?
Yes, as standard, to prevent microbial growth during storage. A preservative-free version with a 6-month shelf life is supplied on request – state it in the order notes.
What pH will I receive?
The solution is buffered within pH 4.5 to 6.5. State the pH your method needs with the order and it will be adjusted to that value.
