Biochemazone Artificial Scalp Sebum BZ475 is a ready-to-use synthetic sebum formulated to mimic the natural sebum produced by the human scalp. Scalp sebum coats the hair shaft and the skin of the scalp; it is what a shampoo has to remove, what makes hair look greasy between washes and what feeds the yeasts involved in dandruff. BZ475 gives hair-care laboratories that soil in a reproducible form – a light-yellow blend of synthetic lipids, fatty acids, triglycerides and waxes.
BZ475 is used to evaluate shampoos, conditioners and scalp treatments, to develop anti-dandruff and sebum-controlling products, to measure the cleansing power of formulations on hair tresses and scalp models, and in research on scalp health and sebaceous gland function. It is offered as a liquid and as a semisolid (ointment-like) texture – order either one, or both for evaluation.
BZ475 is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 1-year shelf life unopened; a stabilized version is available on request and has a 2-year shelf life.
