Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Perspiration, AATCC TM15 Sweat pH 4.3 Stabilized BZ148 is a ready-to-use, sterile acid artificial perspiration prepared to the acid perspiration solution of AATCC Test Method 15, Colorfastness to Perspiration – the sodium chloride / lactic acid / disodium hydrogen phosphate / L-histidine monohydrochloride solution adjusted to pH 4.3 ± 0.2. The same solution is specified for AATCC TM125, Colorfastness to Perspiration and Light, so one bottle covers both test methods.
The Stabilized version contains a preservative / stabilizer system that prevents microbial growth and keeps the solution within specification for a full year, removing the need to prepare fresh perspiration before every test series. Prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system, every batch is standardised for composition and pH so that colour-change and staining ratings are reproducible and comparable between laboratories. A not-stabilized version, a preservative-free version and a Powder Version Kit are available on request.
BZ148 is used by textile mills, dye houses, garment brands and third-party laboratories to rate the colour fastness of dyed and printed fabrics, yarns, threads, trims and leather against acid perspiration, to evaluate staining of adjacent multifibre fabrics, and to screen dye and finish selections during development. It is also used for sweat-resistance testing of coatings, labels, straps and skin-contact components. Other pH values from 2 to 9 and companion formulations – ISO 105-E04 acidic (pH 5.5) and alkaline (pH 8.0), ISO 3160-2, JIS L 0848 and EN 1811 – are available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is BZ148 the same as the ISO 105-E04 acid perspiration solution?
No. ISO 105-E04 uses an L-histidine / sodium chloride / sodium dihydrogen phosphate solution at pH 5.5; AATCC TM15 uses lactic acid and disodium hydrogen phosphate at pH 4.3. We supply both – see BZ154 for the ISO 105-E04 acidic solution.
What does Stabilized mean?
A preservative / stabilizer system is added so the solution stays free of microbial growth and within pH specification for 1 year unopened. If your protocol requires freshly prepared solution without additives, order the not-stabilized or preservative-free version, or the Powder Version Kit.
