Biochemazone Artificial Feline Saliva BZ301, also called simulated feline saliva or cat saliva, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the composition and pH of real cat saliva. It is supplied at pH 7.2 to 8.2 – the standard formulation is set at pH 7.8 – and the pH can be customized to the project requirement. Natural cat saliva contains an assortment of antimicrobial enzymes, proteins such as lysozymes and immunoglobulins, and antimicrobial peptides. BZ301 contains enzymes.
BZ301 is used in veterinary and pet-product research and in in vitro laboratory testing and diagnostic research, wherever a study needs cat saliva of known and constant composition. Collected saliva differs from animal to animal and from day to day, and is difficult to obtain in volume; a simulated saliva gives the same fluid in every batch and can be used directly from the bottle.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains enzymes, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment. How should it be stored?
