Biochemazone Artificial Saliva for Medical Devices BZ326 is a ready-to-use, sterile synthetic saliva at pH 6.8 formulated for the study of medical devices, catheters and implants that are exposed to saliva. Devices that sit in the mouth or pass through it are bathed in saliva for hours or years, and their materials have to be tested in a liquid that resembles it.
BZ326 is used for immersion and ageing of device materials, for extraction and leachables studies in a saliva-like medium, for corrosion and ion-release tests on metallic components, for surface and coating durability, and for functional testing of oral, dental and airway devices. It closely resembles human saliva and gives the same repeatable results in every laboratory.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life. The pH, the formulation and the pack size can be customized. Can BZ326 be used for long immersion tests?
Yes. For tests that run for weeks or with repeated opening, order the stabilized version, which contains a preservative to prevent microbial growth, or replace the not-stabilized solution at intervals.
How long does the solution keep?
Unopened, the not-stabilized solution has a 6-month shelf life at 2–30 °C. A stabilized version with a 1-year shelf life is available on request.
