Biochemazone Artificial Saliva or Simulated Saliva BZ184 is a ready-to-use, sterile saliva simulant at pH 6.8 for scientific research and in vitro use. It is the general-purpose saliva of the range: its ingredients simulate the mineral composition and the pH of natural saliva, and enzymes and viscosity enhancers can be included to order.
BZ184 is used for testing products for corrosion, colourfastness and discolouration, for testing the biodegradability of dental metal alloys, for determining the colourfastness of products intended to be taken into the mouth, for pharmaceutical research on drug dissolution and delivery through the oral mucosa, and for medical and dental research, including work on dry mouth.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life. The pH and the contents can be customized.
