Biochemazone Artificial Saliva for Pharmaceutical Research BZ108 is a ready-to-use, sterile artificial saliva at pH 6.8 formulated according to the literature for pharmaceutical studies, such as drug dissolution in the mouth and drug delivery through the oral mucosa. It simulates the mineral composition and pH of natural saliva and contains viscosity enhancers, so that it wets, flows and coats as real human saliva does.
BZ108 is used to test orally disintegrating tablets, lozenges, buccal and sublingual films, chewing gums, mouth sprays and gels: disintegration and dissolution, drug release, taste-masking, and permeation through oral mucosa models. It is also used in studies of dry mouth and of saliva substitutes.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life. Enzymes can be added to order, and the pH can be customized. This solution is intended for product testing and research, not for in vivo medical use.
