Product Overview
Biochemazone C. elegans M9 Buffer BZ718 is the standard buffer for washing, transferring and synchronising Caenorhabditis elegans. It is used to wash worms off plates, in bleach synchronisation, for starvation arrest of L1 larvae and in behavioural and imaging assays.
M9 is a potassium and sodium phosphate buffer with sodium chloride and magnesium sulfate, at a pH of about 7.0 (range 6.8–7.2). It is supplied sterile, ready to use (1x), or as a 10x concentrate with the magnesium sulfate in a separate vial, since magnesium is added after dilution to avoid precipitation. It contains no animal-derived ingredients.
Note that worm M9 buffer is not the same as M9 minimal medium used for bacteria. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
