Biochemazone Simulated Rat Urine BZ692 is a blank urine matrix for the rat, the most widely used species in toxicology and drug-metabolism studies. It is used for bioanalytical method development, calibration standards and quality controls, and for metabolism-cage and bedding studies where a consistent urine is needed.
The simulant is more concentrated than human urine, reflecting the high urea, creatinine and electrolyte levels of rat urine, and has a pH of about 7.0 (range 6.5–7.5). It is free of drugs and drug metabolites. Rat urine differs from mouse urine mainly in concentration and in the urinary proteins of male animals; this product is supplied protein-free, and a protein-containing version is available on request.
Levels are set from published rat reference data; measured pH, specific gravity and creatinine are reported for each batch. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
